Isaac Butler is a writer and director primarily focused on new work living in Brooklyn. Past directing credits include the US premiere of Line Knutzon's FIRST YOU'RE BORN, the English Language premiere of Petertz Hirschbein's lost Yiddish masterpiece THE AMULET, the world premieres of Clay McLeod Chapman's VOLUME OF SMOKE (both in Richmond and New York), Dan Trujillo's THE HONEST-TO-GOD TRUE STORY OF THE ATHEIST and George Hunka's IN PUBLIC.
As a writer, his work has been featured in Time Out New York, Time Out Chicago, The Wall St. Journal and the New York Times. He is also a featured writer for Buzzine (http://www.buzzine.com) where he writes a column on cultural matters entitled THE ENTHUSIAST, and is a contributing writer to The Drama League's THEATRE TODAY.
Besides all of this, he enjoys writing in the third person, has worked as a sound designer for MCC Freshplays, founded The Rapid Response Team (http://www.rapidresponseteam.org) and is a member of the Arts Policy Committee for Barack Obama.
