There's a big debate going on amongst three of my colleagues websites about why people don't go to the theater.
I'm not going to get involved for now, but I will instead entreat you to go a linkin' through to Dan Trujillo's page (Venal Scene), Laura Axelrod's page (GaspJournal) and good ole' George Hunka. It's a pretty cool debate, and just a little too fiery for me at the moment.
(PS: my central thesis continues to be that people don't go to see theater because it doesn't use its strengths, namely theatricality, locality and live-ness, but instead constantly apologizes for them and tries to be like TV, which people can get basically for free. And since that is way to the side of the politics issue being debated, that's just my 2 cents and I'm gonna stay out of it for now)
