Having now seen, I don't know, a handful of Studio 60 episodes, I have to say that Slate.com has an article today that's like someone reached into my skull, pulled out the post I was trying to write and wrote it (for money). Well done, Slate, and your diabolical post-pulling-out machine!
I LOVE THIS SHOW! What's wrong with it? NBC has it in a terrible timeslot which is why I never get to watch it!
I love this show. Naturally then, it'll be cancelled.
Doin the timeslot RRRAAAAaaaaggggg.....

The reason is simpler than the Slate article suggests.
It's a show about a comedy show. But it's soooo precious and self-important (even without the Sorkin hype). And no character is funny by nature though the actors Sorkin has cast are fantastic and could be.
Which strikes me as extremely untrue since most comedians, no matter how sour, are funny on and offstage. And wildly irreverent all the time - which Studio 60 isn't.
