I love that everybody is dealing with this like the issue is bullying. Agreed, bullying is terrible. What nobody seems to really be addressing is the homophobia behind this bullying.
Gah! I'm sick of people equating anti gay bullying with the bullying that fat kids or kids with glasses receive. IT IS NOT THE SAME. Queer kids usually have no communities to turn to. The isolation queer kids face is so strong that many of us lots and lots of us don't survive childhood.
And why are people taking on bullying instead of homophobia? Because we like our homophobia. We're not ready to dispense with it. We don't protect queers in any shape or form, even if they're children.
