A man in Murray Nebraska accidentally shot himself in the hand while cleaning his gun. He had forgotten the round in the chamber. He was treated and released later today.
Over the weekend, a woman was accidentally shot in the back while driving, an Iowa gun dealer shot himself in the hand at a gun show, a 27 year old shot himself in Alabama by mistake while arguing with a teen. Another man accidentally shot himself in the leg while using the bathroom at a Minnesota grocery store. And, as you've probably heard, a woman accidentally (but non-fatally) shot her husband at a gun range in Florida.
Sadly, for the man in Alabama accidentally shot during a game of quick draw,a 15 year old Matthew Daniels from Tennessee who accidentally shot himself with the family handgun, a man in Miami, Oklahoma accidentally shot by an unknown third party, and Marcus Williams, a 17 year old boy from baton rouge accidentally shot in the back by a friend as they played with a handgun outside, all shot over the weekend, the news isn't as good. They're all dead.
According to the CDCP, Gun deaths are set to eclipse car accidents as the leading cause of non-medical death in the United States in two years.
