I want to see Greenberg, so I avoided your post, but I'm with you on your first point here. I don't know what happened to him in those years between Mr. Jealousy and the Squid and the Whale, but he certainly has a pretty dim view of humanity. I thought Margot at the Wedding was well-done and everything, but I could never spend another 90 minutes in the company of those characters. Never. I'm trying to steel myself for another foray with Greenberg.


What I think is weird is that in those intervening years he... got married, found success and began a long-term collaboration with Wes Anderson co-writing mannered dramedies.

I think that's a pretty good case study in someone's biography not being a key to their work.
