A Game of Thrones is really just setting the stage for all kinds of chaos and political machinations which occur throughout the rest of the novels. The good news is that several of the characters are developed in much greater depth. The only drawback may be the sheer volume of plot lines and newly introduced characters - although I enjoyed it, I wonder if tying all of them together is contributing to the delays in publishing the remaining novels in this series.

That's why I take my time with each "Chapter." There are characters I'd like to follow more than others, and sometimes it's tempting to skip one of the narrations. Watching the series is easier, of course, and I'm equally excited for the plot twists in that version.
