When I read that viral article from the NY Times, coming from a working class background and being a 20-something myself, I could only think, too, that it was a lot more about how a middle-class life costs a lot more money now than it did in the 60's, especially with student loans to repay. I think that that perspective has gotten a little lost in all the "emerging adulthood" hype.

Living the lifestyle that you chose right after college can be a dramatic way to through yourself into debt. It's much better to work a little longer and save up your cash so that you can either put a larger down payment on your first home, or else have a nice little cash cushion :)
